We shared a once in a lifetime experience with 30 of our fellow passengers early this morning (3P), viewing the Winter Solstice Eclipse of the moon. Hard to believe that the last time it was viewed was over 360 years ago by the Pilgrims. Only wish that my camera was a better quality to have captured the moment.Hard to believe that our sailing is coming to an end!Our Captain, again thinking of his passengers has chosen a longer passageback to Miami due to the high seas and winds that we would have experienced had we taken the designated return routing. Never in over 380 days at sea and over 44 cruises have I ever sailed with a Captain who made so many routing, docking, etc decisions (that cost Azamara money) for the sake of comfort and the best cruise experience for his guests.
The wonders of a balcony cabin Who can resist getting up and stepping outon your balcony to greet the morning as the sun comes glistening up over theocean. Truly a wondrous start to the day. Followed by a brisk walk around the upper deck as we approach our destination for the day. As we approached St. Lucia out first sight was the old fort that protectedSt. Lucia for generations. Next the brightly colored roof tops and buildingsalong the shore that took your eye up to the mountain tops to the lighthouse just as a plane flew in to land. Imagine enjoying a morning cappuccino (Compliments of Azamara) served to you on the Windows Cafe Verandaas we dock in port. I am off to my Stretch Class and weight training (all classes are complimentary) before heading out with Bob to explore the island.Bob and I had a special treat - Cocktails and dinner with the Captain. What an evening with stimulating conversation, fine dining, presentation of a red rose and even a photo for remembrance.
Saturday - The embarkation on Saturday was a real treat. As we got off ourshuttle to the port, our driver entrusted our luggage to the port agent andwe literally walked into the Terminal - no lines - thru security toregistration. Onto the ship where the Concierge took possession of ourhand luggage (seeing it to our cabin) while we went to the Windows Cafe fora delightful lunch with complimentary white and red wine and service galore. All the fitness classes from stretch to core training are complimenatry with3 to 4 classes daily plus a number of Wellness seminars.
Dinner was a 5-star experience followed by lots of great music for dancing.Sunday - After fitness classes and a wonderful breakfast on the deck of the Windows Café, I indulged in complimentarylattes and smoothies. I am in heaven. The ship is lovely with rich wood walls, art work and furnishings. Even theE-Connect lounge has the walls paneled in wood with 2 picture window giving you a picturesque view of the ocean.
