Day 3: Silvanis and Susan Disney on Disney

 Permanent link

Feb. 2, 2010 ~ Castaway Cay
Disney Cruise Adventure

Castaway Cay

Disney Pirate Ship

Today we docked at Castaway Cay and we started our day with breakfast at Parrot Cay restaurant before heading on shore.  This is our favorite venue for breakfast because it's table service and you get a choice of eating off the buffet or ordering a la carte.  It was quick and easy but also delicious at the same time.

Getting off the ship was very simple.  And, they gave out towels once you got on shore, so you didn't have to bring them from you staterooms.  Once on shore the first thing you see are characters lined up all around waiting to have their picture taken with you.  Having so many scattered around made the lines short enough that we even stood in all the lines to have our pictures taken with them.  Walking further into the island you run into the shop and all the meeting areas for people who had shore excursions booked with the cruise line.

Castaway Cay was divided into several beaches:  one for families, one for teens, one for adults over the age of 18 and they even had one for the crew.  We, of course,  spent most of our day at Serenity Beach which was the adult only area.  This area had complimentary lounge chairs and hammocks;  we even had our own bar and restaurant at our disposal.  Lunch at Serenity beach was a lot different than Cookies BBQ restaurant where the rest of the island ate.  The menu was more adult taste oriented with Mahi Mahi and other things like Greek salads.  The beach had lots of activities goes on like Limbo on the beach, Crab racing and fun trivia for the family.

After a fun day at the beach we came back on the ship to enjoy a little down time before tonight festivities.  The theme for the evening was Pirates of the Caribbean, where the crew and many of the guest dressed up like pirates for dinner and the big Pirate party that was going to be held on deck at 10pm.  The party was filled with lots of music and dancing fun for the whole family.  Mickey and the gang put on a great show filled with pirates flying out of the sky and a wonderful fireworks display to top off that night.  But the party did not end there.  After the show there was a big desert buffet filled with 50 different deserts and ice cream that no one could resist.  No matter what age or who you are here with this evening is not one that you would want to miss.

Day 2: On the High Seas with Susan and Silvanis

Feb. 1, 2010 - Nassau, Bahamas
Disney Cruise Adventure

Nassau

Susan started her day at 7am with a nice power walk on deck 4 which goes all the way around the ship.  I then joined her at 9am for breakfast at Trintons's which is one of the 3 places you can get breakfast on board the Disney Wonder.  After breakfast we lounged around the adult only pool called Quit Cove until our spa appointments at 11:15am. My options were limited because I'm pregnant,  but they did have a prenatal certified massage therapist who put together an 80 minute treatment of the things I could have for my comfort level.  Susan enjoyed an 80 minute full body massage that she says was one of the best massages she has had on board a ship; it worked all the knots on her body.  This experience was great and different because the therapist already knew a little about you from the spa tour the day before.  Not only that, they did not try to sell you anything after your treatment was over.

After our spa treatment we went back to our favorite place on board the ship the Quit Cove (again adults only) to take a nice nap after our relaxing morning.  We had lunch at a different venue today called Pluto's Dog House.  which was mainly hamburgers and hot dogs.  As usual, Susan could not be bad for a change and ended up ordering a veggie burger.

The weather in Nassau was around the high 70's but not hot enough for us to get in that cold water, so we just wandered around the shops on shore and headed back to our stateroom to read a book and a magazine on the verandah.  In the evening we got all dressed up and went to the theater to watch a performance of Toy Story the Musical.  It was outstanding and once again Disney didn't let us down.  The show was followed by dinner at Animators Palate which is our favorite dining venue so far.  The entire room changed colors during every course and they is a little show in the end with our wonderful wait staff.  After dinner Susan and I decided to catch a late movie of Disney's new filled called "When in Rome".  It was the perfect end to our evenin
