Arriving at the Virgin Australia Lounge at the Los Angeles Airport we felt letdown. It was nothing like the Virgin lounges in New York or London. Being in an overcrowded setting with uncomfortable hard chairs and an unappetizing food bar, we started wondering about our choice of airline for this long flight. Happily it was all uphill from there. Flight boarding was fast. Service on-board was excellent. Nick (the Kiwi) was our attendant and he was very solicitous.
We asked for express service since we had traveled from the East Coast and it had been a long day. The wine list was impeccable. Except for the champagne, all other selections were Australian and good quality. Food was delicious. And then came the turndown service. Pajamas for everyone (and ladies there was a restroom reserved exclusively for us ) ....Nick made up the flat beds with bottom quilted pad and top blanket - all of which made for a nice sleep for about 9 hours. You placed a breakfast order prior to retiring for the evening...and before we knew it we had arrived in Sydney to a gorgeous summer day greeting us.
